‘Why I Work Construction’—George Harrison

Harrison is in his fourth year as an electrical apprentice.

Why did you get into the trade?

I was looking for a career that paid well, and where I could work with my hands. My mother-in-law’s husband recommended the electrical trade because it had everything I was looking for in a job.

What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy the process of reading blueprints and installing conduit, wire, boxes, and electrical panel boards. I like to step back and see what I have completed. I also enjoy troubleshooting when there is a problem and then fixing the problem–that has to be the most rewarding part.
