Craft Competition Tests, Honors Skilled Trade Workers

Now in its 30th year, the National Craft Championships are an intense four-day event, sponsored by Associated Builders and Contractors, where young men and women from across the country compete in one of 15 competitions, representing 13 crafts. The competition portion, which took place in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, from March 1 to March 3, brought together tradespeople from 33 states, including seven merit shop tradespeople from Greater Maryland.

We are proud to announce that Robert Caskey with Fidelity Engineering won a silver medal and safety medal in HVAC and Johnathan Davis with Shaprio & Duncan won a silver medal in plumbing! 

Four local ABC chapters sent tradespeople to the championship event:

ABC Baltimore sent Joshua Burns, with Southern Mechanical, and James Ellis, with A&J Electric Co., to compete in the Electrical division; Robert Caskey, with Fidelity Engineering, to compete in the HVACR division; and Ryan Nelso, with Wolf Fire Protection, to compete in the Sprinkler Fitting division.

ABC Chesapeake Shores Chapter sent Cameron Whitsel and Mike DeLude, with Absolute Fire Protection, to compete in the Sprinkler Fitting division.

ABC Cumberland Valley sent Timothy Wheatley, with Entech, to compete in the Electrical division.

ABC Metro Washington sent Johnathan Davis, with Shapiro & Duncan in the Plumbing division.
